Bridge 1142 in Aguada, PR
This project consisted of replacing Bridge No. 1142 to preserve the access provided between Aguada and Aguadilla. This historic bridge is located on the island of Puerto Rico in the Coloso Valley of the municipality of Aguada. It was built in 1928 to provide rail and ground transportation a crossing over Río Culebrinas(“Culebrinas River” in English). It is located near the historic Coloso sugar cane mill.
Work included designing the bridge replacement of the Bridge No. 1142, located on State Road PR-418, in the Municipality of Aguada, Puerto Rico. Work included geometrical plan and profile, typical and detailed cross sections, pavement marking and signage, maintenance and protection of traffic, structural design, and scouring mitigation. The team of Klein Engineering, PSC also coordinated survey, topographic, and as-built work; hydrologic-hydraulic study; geotechnical exploration work; environmental mitigation and jurisdictional determination; and asbestos and lead abatement analysis.
