VA-10 Iron Bridge Road STARS Study

Project: VA-10 Iron Bridge Road STARS Study

Customer: ATCS, Inc.

Timeline: April – June 2025

Key Challenge: Provide a report highlighting safety improvements needed for VA-10, Iron Bridge Road, in Chesterfield County. The assessment of existing conditions included the review of crash data and preparation of corresponding collision diagrams, existing signage and pavement markings, and guardrails, among others.

Solution Approach: Klein Engineering, PSC supported ATCS, Inc. in the preparation of the existing conditions’ safety assessment for the Iron Bridge Road STARS study. Daytime and nighttime site visits were completed to gather information of the existing conditions of the road and have a better understanding of traffic operations, use, and driver behavior.

The preparation of the existing conditions report was coordinated with ATCS, VDOT, and Chesterfield County.

Key Partners: ATCS, VDOT, Chesterfield County

Results: The project was successfully completed and submitted to VDOT. KEPSC is grateful for the opportunity given by ATCS to collaborate on this interesting project which may ultimately lead to a safer facility for all road users.
